Primer for Learning to Read and Write

The Primer for Learning to Write and Read, Arranged According to the Writing-First Method was created to restore learning to write to its former significance. The book draws on classic school primers, but with a new methodology. Here, more emphasis is placed on learning to write than to read. The order of the letters is dictated by their difficulty and structural similarity. The method used in the Primer was developed by Ewa Landowska, who has worked in calligraphy and teaching beautiful handwriting for 20 years. The book is the result of her fascination with, and years of work on, the primer letterform.

The Primer was created in collaboration with speech-language pathologist Izabela Barankiewicz, who wrote poems about animals and their habits. Beyond their value as content, these poems also support speech development. Kamila Piazza created the book's beautiful watercolor illustrations. Together, these elements make the Primer a carefully crafted whole.
